Heat transfer fluids or coolants are substances that reduce the freezing point below 0°C. They are used in heating, cooling and heat exchange systems to transfer thermal energy. These fluids absorb heat in one place and release it in another.
Common examples include glycol mixtures, salt solutions, oils and alcohols.
Heat transfer fluids are substances that transport thermal energy from one place to another. Their principle is based on absorbing, storing and releasing heat elsewhere. They usually circulate in closed systems, such as heating or cooling circuits.
